The The International Centre (Stabsstelle Internationales) acts as an intermediary for all of our university’s international relations. We support foreign students and scholars, but also alumni and all German members of the University in their internationalisation projects.

AlmaWeb is the CampusManagement System of Leipzig University that shall improve the organization of your studies. Students can register for their courses and see their results.

Alien's Department

Students from Non-EU countries have to register at the Alien's Department (Ausländerbehörde) and the Citizen's Office within two weeks.

Students who stay in Germany for less than three months and who are from EU countries only have to register at the Citizen's Office. If they stay for a longer period of time, it is necessary to register at the Alien's Department as well.

Your Unicard (student card) enables you to borrow books from the library and to copy or scan. You can find your personal identification number on the backside of the card which provides you access to the UBL website.


Every semester you have the possibility to participate in sports courses, offered by the "Zentrum für Hochschulsport".
Consider: You have to be fast in the enrolment process, popular courses are full within a few minutes.

Living in Leipzig

The "Studentenwerk Leipzig" offers students to live in one of the student halls of residence. Here you can find an overview of the different halls and start your application.

Another budget-friendly possibility to live in Leipzig are shared flats. You can find your future flatmates on websites like WG gesucht, Studenten-WG, etc.

Public transport in Leipzig is organised by Leipziger Vekehrsbetriebe (LVB)

If you would like to improve your language skills, a "Tandem" with a native speaker could help. By this, you practice the German language and teach your partner your own mothertongue at the same time. Additionally, both of you can improve their intercultural competence.

Your Student Card

Your student card is your identification card in all issues concerning university. You need it to copy and scan, it permits you to use public transport and you need it to use cafeterias and canteens of Studentenwerk Leipzig.
